Subject | CARB rules for sportfishing disadvantages community |
Comment | I grew up in a low income community. Fishing was a way the world opened up to me and got me away from my home and showed me there was more to life. I can't believe CARB is proposing rules that will take this away from future generations. The escape from home, access to the ocean, learning about a different career path and the significance in co-existing with a marine environment. It seems to me that CARB is going after a small, small fleet of boats. The real targets are the ocean liners, military ships, container ships and the big guys idling around our harbors. Very disappointed that staff has gone for a small group thinking it's an easy win over considering a more thoughtful path that does not disrupt generations of youth from accessing a different way of life. This is an elite disinvestment on small, family owned businesses and underserved youth. Badly done CARB staff. |
