Hello!
     I am writing to express opposition to the CARB requirements
for Recereational fishing vessels that are quickly approaching.
These emission requirements are physically and financially
unattainable to passenger-carrying fishing boat owners. Most will
be forced out of business and the few that can afford it would have
to basically build new boats to comply with the proposed standard.
The cost to build new is outrageously high and most vessels cannot
be retrofitted with compliant engines. This will basically make the
sportfishing businesses along the coast have to shut down
permanently, depriving the recreational angler and whale watcher of
the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of our ocean resource.
     Please re-consider this requirement on boat owners or the
future of sport fishing and whale watching will be gone forever. My
business (fishing supplies) will also be greatly impacted if the
public will no longer be able to engage in recreational fishing.
California has a long history of fishing and whale watching. Please
do not take it away!
