To whomever is reading this, I wanted to state my vehement
opposition to the planned emission regulations for recreational
sportfishing / whale watching boats. While I certainly appreciate
the intention, this is a misguided approach. This will only serve
to kill an industry which already is highly regulated by the state
of California, and negatively affect thousands of jobs, directly or
indirectly. This in turn will affect state and local revenue
sources as well. These companies cannot bear the cost brought on by
the new regulations nor can customers bear the cost from the
companies that are able to survive. Also, I'd like to point out no
other states are going to extreme measures. Lastly, is there a true
benefit to the climate vs. the cost to industries that produce a
miniscule amount of pollution compared to countries like, India,
Brazil, Mexico, and most importantly, China? Thank you for your
