| Comment | I am a senior citizen and I have enjoyed deep sea fishing for over 70 years. I am shocked to learn that new emission regulations currently being considered by the Board would drastically change or destroy the sportfishing industry in California. Most sportfishing boats are owned by individuals and operate as small businesses, most of whom could not afford the cost of drastic upgrades or, in many cases, replacement of a perfectly good craft. Many other businesses depend on the sportfishing fleets to create a demand for their products or services and they would be seriously impacted by a major change or elimination of the sportfishing industry. The imposition of these proposed regulations could result in a serious loss of jobs and recreational opportunities. While I am a strong advocate for protecting the environment, I feel that this proposal represents a case of dramatic over- kill. Thank you for your consideration |
