Hello, my name is Scott Meisel. I have been working in the Southern
California Sportfishing fleet since 1976. At this time I own a 90'
boat called Condor that operates out of fisherman's landing in San
Diego. My boat is finally paid off, and at 58 yrs old, I'm trying
to get to retirement. The condor is my biggest asset towards that
goal. Passing a law that makes said asset worth very little will
assure that my goal is never reached! I have owned boats in the
fleet since 1993, and have worked most of my life at sea to get
where I am. Starting over with a new boat at 4 plus million dollars
is not an option at my age! This law will kill an industry that
literally saved my life by giving me a direction and a means to
make my own way. I have upgraded engines once already and would
surly do it again, if such a product was available. Passing this
law when NO such equipment is even available, is not a fair
solution for multiple industries up and down the coast.
