| Comment | Please do not consider this new regulation to become a law. The older engines in use today were never engineered to run with this newer emission equipment. It will make the engine compartments EXTREMELY hot and probably cause many boats to catch fire!! These systems rob power from the engine so that they have to run harder to produce the same results in moving the boat thru the water. This reduces the fuel economy and increases costs by having to burn more fuel. More fuel being burned negates the "GREEN" savings of what the new emissions system is supposedly saving. This idea of a greener ocean fleet will kill off most boat owners the way this same system did to most private tractor-trailer operators! The expense of a new MANDATED emission system will drive the cost of the new compliant vessel out of reach of the average tax payer!!! Please don't let that happen!! Thank You Charlie Samms |
