Subject | CHC2021 Save Our Boats |
Comment | I don't understand how you could even think of passing this law with all the irreversible damage it would cause not only to our already strained economy but also to the conservation programs that are funded from the fishing licenses which are bought because of the boats you want to get rid of. You may see it as only a few boats and how much impact could it really have but you would be wrong. There are thousands of jobs that revolve around the Sportfishing industry, which would all be gone if this is passed. That's right thousands! Also if it does pass the cost to go one a boat to fish would be out of reach for most people especially the people who live in the inner city's who already are having to save and scrape just to go fishing maybe just once or twice a year. This brings me to wanting to share the experiences I had with you from when I worked on the sports boats growing up. So some of my favorite trips we would do were when we have a group of inner city kids and their parents would come out for a day of fishing or whale watching with us. The smiles on there faces when they would get to experience catching there first ocean fish or seeing there first whale was priceless. They would go from just knowing what they have learned in school to having a passion and love for the ocean. This intern meant they wanted to go back and learn more or even join us for another great day on the water. It was really a life changing experience. I even had one kid thank me because he could if only for a short time not have to think about the daily struggles of his everyday life. I beg you to not pass this regulation because what would be taken away would be more then just some boats. |
