Subject | New Sport Boat Regulations |
Comment | I began fishing [and working] the sportfishers in the late 70's and a trip leaving early morning to the Coronados and returning at night would run you $35 and perhaps another $35-40 in filets, food, and tips. With inflation and the many [and often extreme] regulations--and the multiple agencies a boat has to work with to even go on a trip, a one day trip is often $200+. Not to mention food, tips, filets, and often a fuel surcharge--and US and Mexican license. That puts most recreational fishermen--like me--out of offshore fishing. PERIOD. Already. I left the State this year because of the ridiculous over-regulation. If I came to visit, the only way I could fish would ve to look up old friends--and pay for a passport. Please don't starve most of the Captains and workers out of business by yets more regulation-----Ones that they either cannot meet or will force them into retirement. And will make offshore fishing in California a rich man's sport. |
