Subject | Proposed CARB Harborcraft Engine Regulations |
Comment | Hello! My name is Kenny Dean. My son inlaw and I purchased our sportfishing boat The T Bird 3 years ago. We are already struggling because of covid. Our boat is a 60 year old wood boat that we will lose if these new regulations go into effect. I used my savings for retirement to purchase this vessel so I could supplement my retirement income and help my daughter and son inlaw have a secure future raising their 3 children. There is no way we can afford to buy or build a new boat that can handle the new engines that would be required to meet these standards. We would lose our business which would destroy both of our familys financially. We have one of the richest fisheries in the world here is San Diego. We love taking people out daily to fish for Bluefin, yellowfin tuna along with yellowtail and dorado here in Ca and Mexico. We are planning on repowering our boat with new engines to help fight emissions when we haul out next year. Please reconsider and place us back in the same category as the commercial boats. Thank you Kenny Dean |
