Subject | Proposed passenger boat regs |
Comment | Hello, I just wanted to express my apprehension about the new regulations being proposed that would significantly affect the SoCal recreational Sportfishing fleet. Although I no longer live in California, I take several trips a year there for the purpose of recreational Sportfishing on various boats in the fleet. I feel i am one of many whose primary form of recreation involves these boats, and contribute a significant amount of my disposable income to businesses in California in pursuit of this passion. Furthermore I am not against technological progress to improve emissions, but I think there is a balance that needs to be found that does not adversely affect people's lives and livelihoods in a way that is out of proportion to the problem itself. I'm terms of mass balance, air quality and ghg effects from the Sportfishing industry are a drop in the bucket compared to other less disruptive and larger scale changes that could be implemented. I question whether this is really a wise move to not only affect so many individuals livelihoods, but to also alienate the hearts and minds of that segment of the population with respect to what lies ahead in terms of energy transition challenges. Thank you for your time in reading my comments. Respectfully, Eric S Gottlieb, PhD |
