| Comment | To whom it may concern, I am writing this e-mail to advise against the upcoming emission requirements for sportfishing and whale watching vessels. I am familiar with the new technology as I am a Fire Chief who has the responsibility of designing our fire apparatus which have this new technology built in. While this is effective and practical for fire engines, it is not practical on wood and fiberglass sportfishing vessels. The majority of the fleet up and down the California coast are wood/fiberglass vessels. These family owned vessels cannot afford, nor would it be safe to have this new technology installed into the vessel. These boats already have ecofriendly motors installed and the fleet is reasonably small compared to the number of trucks on the road. Please do not put these family owned operations out of business.
