Please be reasonable when understanding the impact that new engines
and technology be required by passenger boats. The bulk are family
owned/operated. I cannot think of a single instance in the fishing
boats I charter where an owner of a diesel powered wood/fiberglass
boat could afford to purchase a replacement vessel or make the
existing one compliant. I understand and support CARB's mission,
but causing the near-extinction of an industry, especially one
owned and operated by individuals, families and very small, not
well capitalized, businesses is should not be part of CARB's
mission.
