Comment | I'm emailing a request to eliminate, or modify pending emission decisions, so they better meet the needs of business owners and the general public. If business owners are forced out by costly upgrades, the general public will be excluded from ocean experiences. We usually choose fleet sportfishing/whale watching boats because we can't afford our own boat. The economics go well beyond the boats on the water. You know that restaurants, hotels, Gas stations, sporting goods dealers, and even the states ability to generate money to enhance State recreation opportunities would be affected negatively. If emissions and greenhouse gas reduction is the goal, allow a phase out over time, as existing engines die and need replacement. Re-powering marine engines is already a fairly frequent thing. Or maybe consider emissions testing for boats (to remain licensed) to manage gross polluters... There shouldn't be an industry wide mandated repower date. Phase it in. Thanks, Mark Stillians |
