Subject | Don't Kill The Southern California Fishing Industry |
Comment | To the Clerk of the Board I fish. I fish a lot. After all of the things that I have to deal with on the day to day, racism, politics, sexual equality, Covid, and any one of the many things the news uses to distract us from the real issues, I fish to get away. I fish to have fun. I fish to relax. I fish to eat quality fresh fish. This issue the news media could not distract me from. The regulations that you want to put in place to control emissions, which is a very serious issue I must admit, will kill the industry. It will make the industry better. It will kill it. I can't afford the price increase. I am barely able to afford the price increase with the Covid shut down. My favorite boats will be dry docked permanently. The few boats that are left will not be able to keep up with the demand of our growing community of anglers. The fishing industry is not made up of corporations. It is made up of family owned businesses. I don't think any of them own more than two boats. Three at the most. I need fishing. I need it bad. I can't imaging NOT being able to go our for big tuna or even the local kelp beds for local bass. Please help me. Sincerely, Elry Phillips |
