I am writing to ask that you reconsider implementing legislation
that will effectively shut down the recreational sport fishing
industry as well as whale watching operations in California. While
I truly appreciate that we need to place limits on the dispersal of
emissions to stem the adverse affects of climate change, this
proposal is not the solution. Small businesses operating
recreational fishing vessels are but a small percentage of a much
larger problem. But as with many regulations, these businesses do
not pose a political cost to decision makers as is the case with
hoisting these regulations on well financed and influential
corporations. Give the little guy a break. Set realistic and
reasonable expectations so that implementation of these rules as
currently considered do not wipe out businesses that offer
sportsmen and women along with their kids to enjoy the great
outdoor opportunities that our state has offered to so many
generations of Californians. Thank you.
