Subject | Sportfishing Engine Regulations. |
Comment | This is Government overreach in the worst form! To even think about putting these regulations on this industry will be catastrophic for the state of California! I grew up working on these vessels and still have a lot of friends and family who rely on this industry. These are not semi trucks that have engines available to convert to DEF. Which you have already ruined that industry as well. Look at how many Owner Operators have been put out of business due to your Port Regulations. You are doing the same here with no legitimate reason whatsoever. These vessels operate under generator power for a high percentage of the time while fishing, similar to a Tripac on a Semi Truck. They also don't operate year round! They also mostly operate in International Waters 80% of the time. Why is CARB trying to regulate a law for boats that are under power in the State of California for maybe 45 minutes before entering International Water. Once again this would be the nail in the coffin for this industry, which is unacceptable! If you want to pass laws like these you need to get with engine manufactures on creating a reliable Marine engine to suit the States needs. Carb is once again getting ahead of affordable technology. There is nothing wrong with wanting this conversion but this is not the right time. |
