To whom it may concern,

My name is R.J. Waldron I own and operate the charter boat
Sundance. I
am a board member of the Golden Gate Fisherman's
Association(ggfa).
I'm writing in concern of the proposed mandate for tier 4 engines
in all harbor craft. If this passes I will not have a future in the
the business I devoted my life to. I've invested all my time and
money into my boat! I worked on the Sundance starting in 2011 and
purchased it from the previous owner in 2015, since then I've kept
up with upgrading to the most state of the art engines including
the tier 2 engines that I have today. I'm currently in the process
of upgrading to tier 3 engines
I ask that you reconsider your mandate and let us stay in
operation
with our tier 3 engine. If I had to replace my boat and have a new
boat built and or get a new engine the cost of all this would put
me
out of business. Also we only run our vessel at 60 percent power
only 15 percent of the day on the water while the other 85 percent
of the day we only run
the engine at 12-14 percent load.
Aside from my personal concerns it would be such a tragedy if we
couldn't take people out fishing everyday. Families, fathers/mother
and sons/daughters, friends and corporations doing team building.
Fisherman look forward to spending time with friends and family on
the charter boats every year!

Capt. R.J. Waldron
