Subject | Commercial Harbor Craft Regs |
Comment | To whom it may concern. Most recreational fisherman are the type who appreciates clean oceans and will often leave their area of recreation much much cleaner than they arrived. Changing regs on sport boats to make them cleaner will hurt the entire industry. Boat operators will shell out big $$ (likely have to finance) in hopes that recreational anglers will pay increased trip prices for. I recently went on a 1.5 day trip at $800. Same trip used to be about $500 a few years back. IF this trip were to be more, I'm not using rec boats. Many others like me may see benefit in owning my own personal watercraft and small engine which I doubt is your goal. Imaging decimating a recreational fleet substituting for many anglers buying their own inefficient water craft. Those that can't afford their own boats will be deprived and or face steep costs to fish from a boat. Those that can afford their own personal polluting boats will, they will benefit. Those that can't will be left behind. This is misguided, all that will happen is anglers will be forced on Planes (i'm sure it's clean energy) to fish out of state fisheries that do not have these requirements. |
