Comment | Sometimes laws with good intentions are written a little to broadly and unintended consequences are the result. In this case the law will wipe out an industry because the costs are just to large to bear for independent sportfishing industry boats. In this case the technology is not even available to retrofit or repower a fishing vessel. It is the equivalent of scraping off a house and rebuilding because the roof isn't angled correctly for solar panels. Please consider a less specific alternative such as setting limits for existing exhaust output and giving time for the industry to come up with better solutions to meet a cleaner exhaust requirement. I am sure by working together with the sportfishing industry and CARB a workable solution is possible. |
