I am an avid Ocean fisher person who has fished for 50 years off
the southern California coast. I have been taking my daughter who
is now 30 years old, fishing since she was 9. She is now an avid
fisher gal and takes other women fishing. I am in several clubs and
have sponsored and assisted organizations that take disabled kids
and inner city kids on trips for years. I find this potential new
regulation to be a disastrous over reach of government on private
industry and the CA recreational fishing industry. Most Californian
cannot afford an ocean vessel to fish and depend on the local
landings to provide a safe, fun and rewarding adventure. This
regulation will force many if most all passenger fishing vessels
with wooden and fiberglass hauls to be removed because the vessels
cannot be upgraded due to the original design and make. This would
destroy everything mentioned above and the multimillion dollar
recreational fishing industry that cannot possibly comply. I
encourage the governor to re-think this regulation and to stop its
progress. There has to be another way instead of destroying
wonderful outdoors recreational sport and hobby in California.
