As a father of 2 young children, one of them with latent asthma, I
strongly support stronger air standards for California's
construction equipment which is the second largest source of
diesel pollution in the state, accounting for 20% of particulate
matter
(soot) and 16% of smog-forming Nitrogen Oxides (NOx). 
These pollutants are two of the biggest pollution hazards for
public
health in California and throughout the country. Children and
elderly people are at a much higher risk than others.
I understand that the proposed new rule will strengthen the
current standarts, which I believe is urgently needed.
This is a historic opportunity to cut a major source of dangerous
air pollution in the state California.
