As a person with asthma -- only gained in the last seven years when
I moved to California! -- I am horrified at the air quality I find
in this beautiful state. There are days when it's not safe for me
to be outside breathing the vehicular pollution, smog and other
causes of bad air. And the amazing thing is, I live in rural
Nevada County, where we have no major polluting industries, just
small populations and lots of forest! ALL of our air pollution
comes from Sacramento and the Bay Area communities, and hits us
right in the eyes -- and lungs! 

It is imperative for the health and ecological balance of this
great state and its people that vehicular emissions be severely
restricted; otherwise, our children, elders and those like me with
respiratory problems are doomed to a life of inadequate oxygen
intake. 

I KNOW it is possible to minimize the damage these polluting
vehicles do to the air; PLEASE do all you can to make this state's
air safe for us to breathe.
