Subject | Diesel Emissions need to be reduced |
Comment | The diesel air pollutin from in-use off-road vehicles (such as road construction vehicles) causes thousands of premature deaths and is a major contributor to smog. As a PhD student at Stanford University studying air pollution, I know how bad diesel emissions can be when they are not regulated properly. Not only are particulates extremely bad for human health (espeically for workers who are around the emissions all day), they are often soot - which is a direct contributor to global warming and studies show that it may be second in importance after CO2 in terms of its impact on global warming. Please strengthen the emissions standards and reduce the amount of air pollution in some of the most polluted areas in our state. Thank you for considering my comments. Sincerely, Diana Ginnebaugh |
