Subject | Please support stronger air standards for construction equipment |
Comment | To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to express my support for the Air Resources Board's proposed rule to reduce air pollution from California's construction equipment. Exposure to smog--including particulate matter and nitrogen oxides from construction equipment--can cause serious health problems. Air pollution is associated with heart attacks, irregular heartbeat, asthma attacks, reduced lung function and bronchitis. It is my understanding that the proposed rule could reduce health care and hospitalization costs by as much as $18 to $26 billion, and also help to bring the most polluted areas of the state--the Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley--into attainment with federal air quality standards. Once again, I urge the Board to support stronger air standards for California's construction equipment. Sincerely, Andrea Mummert |
