| Subject | Increase Focus on Battery EVs over Fuel Cell Vehicles |
| Comment | As a long-time California resident I'm proud of the work CARB has done to promote zero emission vehicles in the state and, in many respects, nationwide. As part of Senate Bill 498 I am formally requesting that CARB significantly decrease, or altogether eliminate, subsidies towards fuel-cell vehicles programs. The reality of technology progress and the will of the people (as expressed by sales numbers) is now incontrovertible -- consumers want electric vehicles, not fuel cell vehicles. EVs have clearly come of age with effective fast-charge networks, long-lasting batteries, rapid battery improvements, and affordable prices all now in place. It is time for state financial support of fuel cell technologies to be stepped down, and for a unified push to be made for EVs at scale, to rid our state (and nation) of dependence on fossil fuels.
