SubjectCut the Supply and Demand for Amazon Crude Oil

This planet is rapidly becoming uninhabitable and will be within a few generations. Today's youth will grow up into a world with little food to eat, air that is too dirty to breathe, barren forests, and rampant pandemics - not to mention the melting ice caps and extreme heat that we are already starting to experience. This is because of our addiction to oil. As long as we do nothing to end the addiction, what I mentioned above is a certainty.

We all must do our part to end our addiction to oil and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) can do its part by ensuring that fossil fuel expansion is not taking place in California and the Amazon. CARB can put in place mechanisms that will ensure oil will not be sourced from new drilling in the Amazon and honor Indigenous rights.

I am asking that CARB reign in rogue refineries by commiting California to a regulatory agenda that makes certain that California refineries are not sourcing crude oil from new drilling regions in Amazon and regions where Indigenous rights are violated. In addition, CARB can commit California to new fuel efficiency standards and electrical vehicle expansion for fleets that consume the most Amazon oil.

Thank you for your time in reading this comment.

Regards,

Susan Etheridge
