Dear Sirs,
Please provide regulations to prohibit the importation of oil
from the Amazonian jungles of Brazil, Peru and Ecuador to
California. Most Californians wouldn't support the destruction of
the Amazon rainforest and jungle oil spills made by the oil
companies there even though the oil is slightly cheaper, if they
knew what was happening. It is cheaper oil but the environmental
costs are truly unacceptable. California must take a leadership
role in cutting fossil fuel drilling everywhere, jungle destruction
by the oil companies and exploitation of the indigenous tribes
there. Please do the right thing, even if gas costs more at the
pump.
Sincerely,
Greg Pearl OD
