Dear Board Members:
The CARB must act to reduce GHG emissions, not just for our air,
but for our very survival as a species. The board must act in
developing a platform with teeth to hold companies, utitilties, and
our governments accountable. Too many jurisdictions have declared a
climate emergency but do nothing tangible to reduce gas-powered
travel. Gas-powered travel contributes two-thirds of our emissions
in most communities. It must be required that every roadway that is
repaved be retrofitted with safe, separated pedestrian and bicycle
lanes. In addition, the board must do all it can to encourage the
adoption of rooftop solar and thwart the CPUCs gross solar tax
proposal. Though seemingly out of the board's purview, cynical acts
such as the CPUCs must be publicly called out if we have any hope
of surviving the climate catastrophe is unfolding.
Sincerely,
Sharon Kirk
