Board Members,
The Draft Scoping Plan is very, very disappointing. We
need a plan that prioritizes electrification of transportation and
buildings, and a clean energy grid that relies on non-polluting
non-GHG sources such as solar, wind, and water. We do not need
large investments in new fossil fuel plants. We must not rely
on dead-end solutions such as CCS and a very flawed cap and trade
system. Likewise, hydrogen is a very inefficient source of
energy and creating it often pollutes our air. We need to end our
reliance on oil and gas, not invest in new gas plants.
We can meet our climate goals AND reduce air pollution.
The Draft Plan is flawed and Alternative 3 is not
acceptable. Back to the drawing board, please!
