I was shocked to learn about how much crude oil from the Amazon
is refined right here in California, fully 50% of the global total.
Rainforests are critical defenses against climate change, and there
could be no worse course of action than to raze rainforests in
order to lease those lands for oil developement, which of course
attacks our planet's climate on two fronts at once. I expect
California to be a leader in the fight against climate change. We
need to put new fuel efficiency standards in place and expand
electrification both in transportation and real estate while
shifting our developement to renewable sources of energy. We
certainly don't need to be razing rainforests and refining oil from
rogue refineries in areas where indigenous rights are being
illegally violated. Help stop this madness now! Don't expand fossil
fuel extraction. Help move California in the right direction!
