Good afternoon CARB board members,
My name is Louis Mendoza, I live in the Inland Valley,
Jurupa Valley and I am in support of a strong scooping plan. More
particularly of the following items. The Scoping Plan takes a
coordinated stance on phasing out Fossil Fuels by 2045 by first
halting the construction of gas plants and retiring all gas plants
by 2035. Additionally, taking active steps by ending oil extraction
by 2035, phasing out oil refining by 2045, no more gas appliances
by 2030, and full decommissioning of the gas distribution system.
The scoping plan provides a road to investing in green with clean
cars, trucks, and mass transit for the everyday Californian. The
plan to have a clean transportation system with 100 percent
zero-emission vehicles by 2035 is balanced with strategies, such as
transit investments, that lower VMT by 30 percent by 2035. Lastly,
the scoping plan tackles the problem head-on instead of relying on
climate policy dead ends like carbon capture and storage extending
the life of fossil fuel infrastructure, and continuing to sacrifice
overburdened communities.
Once again I urge the board to pass a strong scoping
plan because the health of our communities depends on it.
