As a California resident, parent, and climate activist, I want
to see my state dominate the emisions race to zero. I believe that
our highest priority as a state is to show the world how fast a
transition toward zero carbon emissions can be made. California is
by itself, one of the most powerful economies in the world. We
understand the stakes of the issue better than any other economy.
We have the obligation to change now. We need to win the race so
that the world sees how it can be done.
Make the change dramatic. We are in a RACE. The opportunity for
slow experiments and cautious execution was in the past, while we
were mired by an industrial assault on truth. Now the assault is
clear, solutions are available, people are educated, and we are
frustrate by an oil industry that is feasting on us at the gas
pump.
In 2030, it will look odd to see a roof that doesn't have solar
installed. It will feel absurd to drive a clunky car with thousands
of moving parts that fumes waste into the sky. We will scratch our
heads at the volume of unburnt natural gas leaking from pipes and
how we frack the earth to replace it.
Please make dramatic changes now. Put everything else second.
