I am commenting on your plan, because I do not believe it meets
or takes seriously the imminent threats of our changing climate.
The burning and use of fossil fuels is literally burning up
California and our lungs. We can not delay, as your plan
does, getting to carbon neutrality by 2045. Your plan does
not even meet the Governor's challenge of accelerating our climat
target to 2035.
Instead the plan does not shut down any of the gas power plants
currently operating, but keeps all gas plants operating and
proposes to build new ones. And it relies on unproven
technologies instead of proven renewable energy
sources. We need to rapidly reduce fossil fuel emissions and
the plan does not do this.
We can not keep doing the same thing and expect different
results. I want to live in a community where children do not have
to carry an inhaler in their school bag. Where wildfires do
not destroy peoples homes and their lives. We need the Board to be
bold and put forth a Scoping Plan that will meet the challenges for
a safe and healthy future for all the citizens of California, and
that includes your children and grandchildren.
