Comment 210 for 2022 Climate Change Scoping Plan (scopingplan2022) - Non-Reg.

First NameSydney
Last NameBerner
Subjectclimate change

40+ years ago, in the late 70's when I was a student at CSULA, I took several earth sciences classes. Even took a field trip to Arco Santi near Scottsdale, Az. Global warming, climate change, rape of the earth, whatever you name it, was already known and being studied. Shameful that there was no action until the conversation began again, lately, because the extremes of weather are so in our faces and causing real damage in our lives. Ground is sinking, levees are failing, islands are going under water, homes are falling into rivers, etc. High CO2 levels, mass die offs of ocean animals, depletion of food sources, desertification all in the name of profit. The earth will continue on its way for millions of years, but if we don't clean up our biosphere, humans will die off. Just imagine that this generation is the last one to have enough water, food, oxygen. We would have no descendents. All of us alive now won't see the end, but our grandchildren's children might.

Those in government and those who have accumulated all the wealth and resources in the world might last a few decades more, but they will end, too. If some of that wealth, knowledge, and an empathy for the human race were accessed now, maybe we could avert disaster. Right now, our legislators are so spoiled and stingy, I don't have much hope.
