SubjectDraft Scoping Plan Does Not Go NEARLY Far Enough
Comment

I am a father of 2 kids under 4 years old and I am desperately worried about their future in a warming world. As it stands, CARB staff are recommending that the Board select a scoping plan that lacks any sense of urgency and is far from ambitious enough to get us where we need to be by 2030. Worse, the world is watching California, a putative leader in climate action—and if we adopt a go-slow program of insufficient change, others are likely to dilute their own goals and programs. The draft plan will not keep global temperatures close to what scientists say will avoid catastrophe. The world has only ten years to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent if we are to attain the goal. President Biden has committed the United States to a 50 percent reduction by 2030. Yet the draft plan admits that it may not achieve even 40 percent by 2030. Please address climate change for what it is - a crisis with unimaginable consequences for future generations. Be a leader of the world and enact aggressive programs to address the impending catastrophes.
