I am appalled by the inadequate response to climate change that
the scoping plan represents.
It would appear that while "scoping" you looked through the
wrong end of your telescope making the huge dangers of further
climate change appear very tiny. It's not and your response is
ludicrously inadequate.
As the world's fifth largest economy we need to set an
inspirational example for others to follow. We need to
take immediate and far reaching actions to rapidly reduce fossil
fuel production and usage. Half of Amazon oil goes to California -
ban it now! That could be the biggest immediate action sending a
huge message: "Stop destroying our natural world!" to the fossil
fuel barons and autocratic petrostates.
Stop drilling oil. Ban new wells and require proper capping of
old wells within a mile of schools and homes. Set a timeline for
permanent closure of all wells and payment of fines for
environmental destruction and health consequences.
Accelerate the rollout of electric vehicle charging stations,
running increase production of electric vehicles, heat pumps,
induction stoves, solar panels, batteries and inverters. We need
many more solar rooftops - end attempts to tax solar and cancel
PCIA charges.
All actions must be taken sooner not later. Tipping points won't
wait or forgive you.
