Please don't harm communities in the Amazon to support
California's disastrous dependence on oil! We need fast action to
get off of our dependence on fossil fuels. We see unexpectedly
dramatic rises in temperatures at the poles, telling us that
positive feedback loops are changing our climate more quickly than
any of our models had anticipated. California has been more
climate-forward than the rest of the horrendously lagging United
States, but that doesn't mean we have time to waste perpetuating
our state's dependence on fossil fuels. Take drastic action, the
kind that is called for in this pivotal moment. As the state with
the largest population, our swift and bold action can make a real
difference. Let it not be said that California failed to do what
was necessary. If the world fails, let it be said that the rest of
the world needed to have followed our example!
