Please make the Scoping Plan stronger. Alternative 3
perpetuates our reliance on fossil fuels, and scientists all agree
that we must aggressively stop the burning of fossil fuels to avoid
the worst impacts of climate change. We are running out of
time!
1. Achieve carbon neutrality by 2035, not 2045
2. Do not rely on CCS. it is much better to just stop
burning fossil fuels than to capture the carbon that is emitted.
This just perpetuates the oil and gas industry.
3. Do not build any more gas powered plants. Invest in
expanded renewable energy sources
4. Stop any future fracking.
5. Accelerate the phase out of gas appliances in buildings.
All buildings should be all-electric by 2026. Do not
support proposals of the IOUs to mix hydrogen with fuel gas for
homes. Just electrify them - cheaper and gets us off fossil
fuels quicker.
6. Require existing building appliance sales be 80%
electric by 2025 and 100% by 2030.
7. Incentivize retrofits, especially for communities of concern
and low income individuals.
8. Terminate all incentives and rebates for gas appliances.
We are in a climate crisis. Please take bold action.
