Fossil fuels have no place in a climate change scoping plan,
especially those fuels extracted from fragile ecosystems around the
world such as the Amazon. California has long been a leader in
climate change and overall preservation of the Earth. This draft
scoping plan is deficient and will easily remove this state from
leading in an almost laughable way. The plan needs drastic revision
in favor of bold practices that keep fossil fuels in the ground and
grow a sustainable green-energy infrastructure for California and
ultimately other states and the world as we lead the way. We must
do this decisive and honorable work immediately to avoid climate
disaster. Moving statistical estimates from one column to the next
in a scoping plan that includes fossil fuels is not the way. Please
revise the draft scoping plan with bold solutions to eliminate
green-house gases and eliminate our reliance on fossil fuels
entirely.
