I am writing to urge CARB to strengthen the draft Scoping Plan.
California needs to demonstrate leadership and aim for carbon
neutrality as soon as possible, and NOT delay until 2045.
Scientists have repeatedly warned that THIS is the last decade for
us to take action to avoid disaster. The wildfires, prolonged
drought, heatwaves, and - as a result - diminishing biodiversity
and increasing stress on human health are evident, whether one
reads scientific studies or simply observes what is happening
around us. There should be no more investment in fossil fuels nor
construction of new methane gas plants. Instead we need to pursue
renewable energy, reduce emissions directly, transition to zero
emission vehicles, and electrify existing building stock as soon as
possible.
