As two caring and concerned people, my husband and I
urge California Air Resources Board (CARB) to re-evaluate this plan
with more emphasis on the urgent and critical need for reducing
climate pollution and to incorporate recommendations from the
AB 32 Environmental Justice Advisory
Committee into the document.
California has been and is
seen as a, if not THE leader on environmental concerns and often
helps shape federal policy. Therefore, we urge California to adopt an ambitious climate
action plan in line with the urgency of the climate crisis,
centered in and driven by health and equity.
Specifically, we urge and
request the following of CARB:
- Re-evaluate their designation of
ethanol as a renewable fuel.
- Re-evaluate their determination
that Blue hydrogen (made from fossil fuels) is a pathway to
decarbonization.
- Eliminate Carbon Capture and
Sequestration (CCS) and Direct Air Capture as strategies to
reduce emissions.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mary Ann and Frank
