Dear CARB board members,
My name is meital yaniv, I live in the Inland Valley,
Riverisde, and I am in support of a strong scooping plan.
More particularly, in support of the following items.
● No New Gas: No new gas in the Scoping Plan, and reach
zero
emissions by retiring all gas plants by 2035.
● Full, the coordinated phaseout of fossil fuels by 2045:
end oil
extraction by 2035, phase out oil refining by 2045, no more
gas
appliances by 2030, and full decommissioning of the gas
distribution
system by 2045
● Accelerate and scale up investments in clean cars,
trucks, and
mass transit for working-class Californians. Transition to a
clean
transportation system with 100% zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs)
by
2035 balanced with strategies, such as transit investments, that
lower
VMT by 30% by 2035
● Minimize reliance on climate policy dead ends like
carbon
capture and storage
that extends the life of the state’s otherwise defunct
fossil fuel
infrastructure and guarantees that already overburdened
communities will continue to be sacrifice zones.
Once again, I urge the board to pass a strong scoping plan
because our
community lives depend on it.
