Hello, my
name is Daisy Santiago, and I’m a college student and
volunteer with the Sierra Club from the Inland Empire, which ranks
as the worst air quality in the nation. I'm a resident of Perris,
California, which was once a small rural town and is NOW an area
used to house thousands of warehouses that expand every
year...
I’m
here today because my city, like others, is being taken over by
drayage trucks that pollute and drive in our neighborhoods, making
these cities sacrifice zones. These emissions contribute to the
horrible air quality in surrounding areas that disproportionately
affect the health of low-income racial and ethnic minority
communities.
CARB needs
to create more ambitious plans to stop the environmental injustices
ongoing in our state and prevent the worst impacts of climate
catastrophe
IN THE CARB
Scoping plan, I am asking the board to transition to 100%
zero-emission vehicles by 2035.
We
also desperately need a complete phaseout of fossil fuels by
2045.
Again, the
California Air Resources Board can make decisions that drastically
impact our quality of life. We all deserve the right to have clean
air and a healthy life.
Thank you
for your time !!
