Hello my
name is Cristel Gonzalez , I am a resident of Oxnard and I am a
youth leader with the non-profit organization named CAUSE.
I’m here today to speak on the CARB Scoping Plan. As a
resident of Oxnard, I traveled 400 miles this morning starting at
2am from my EJ community of Oxnard to speak at this meeting because
CARB wants to keep using fossil fuels, and are recommending
Alternative 3 which includes an additional 10GW (gigawatt)
buildout, which harms the lungs and health of my community. Growing
up in a community with a 90th percentile asthma rate has taken a
huge tole on my family and our health. I have suffered from asthma
since I was little. When my father immigrated here to Oxnard he
started showing symptoms of asthma after a few years. Living in a
city that is being harmed be fossil fuels and diesel exhaust my
family nor the community. I am asking the Board to make a plan for
more clean cars,
trucks, and mass transit for working class Californians and a transition
to 100% zero-emission vehicles and no more fossil fuels! Please
consideration the health risks that pollution has. Thank
you.
