Hello, my name is Yesenia Gonzalez , I am a
resident of Oxnard, and I am young adult leader with the non-profit
CAUSE and I’m speaking on the CARB SCOPING PLAN. I woke up at 2 am today to catch a flight
from oxnard to Sacramento to speak on the issues in my community in
Oxnard. Every part of the state’s fossil fuel chain
disproportionately affects the health and well-being of working
class people of color in California, and 10GW (gigawatt) of fossil
fuels that alternative 3 will build out will be impacting the EJ
communities such as Oxnard. Which has been a dumping ground for
polluting projects and is constantly being overlooked. The people
of Oxnard are living in areas with high levels of pollution which
are causing numerous health problems. We are in the 90th percentile
for asthma rates which our community is suffering from. I am
asking the Board to make a plan for more zero-emission vehicles and
no more fossil fuels and transition to 100% zero-emission vehicles
by 2035 and lower the amount of vehicle miles traveled by 30% by
2035. The decisions that the California Air Resources Board makes
now will determine whether my family and I have a safe and healthy
future in our EJ community. Thank you
