Comment

This is a request to include Direct Air Capture using Free Air Crop Carbon Dioxide Enrichment (FACE) in the 2022 Climate Change Scoping Plan for Carbon Neutrality as a strategy for Natural and Working Lands, especially for Crop Lands as shown on page 255. This contributes to success of carbon neutrality with a nature based solution for capturing carbon dioxide by increasing agriculture production and water utilization efficiency in the largest water consume by up to 50% and up to 200%. This means that if the CO2 in the biosphere of crops in increased by up to 50% (from 400 ppm to 600 ppm CO2) then CO2 is removed directly from the atmosphere.  FACE is a proven science and technology that has been researched by USDA and USDOE for over 50 years. CDFA recently awarded a SWEEP grant for an almond orchard to recieve CO2 from a refinery to increase yields and water utilization efficiency by 40%. This is also a request to add FACE to the GHG Calculator tool so SWEEP grants applications can gain credit for the approximately 10 Metric Tons per year per acre of CO2 captured from a producing orchard (C3 trees such as Citrus and Almond) per USDA's Dr. Bruce Kimball.
