In the AB 32 Scoping Plan, we would like to see CARB increase the
land use target from 5 million metric tons (MMT) of CO2 equivalent
to 11-14 MMT. The higher target the better--the US and all of us on
the planet are actually increasing GHG emissions in the last
several years, so please act urgently!
If we don't have ambitious goal and a "new green deal" we really
have no chance of surviving on this planet. Please don't take this
matter lightly, or try to use financial justification for lower
targets. In "Green Collar Economy" Van Jones explains so eloquently
that these are false dilemmas--green economy (which will only help
achieve higher standards) is the only part of the economy that has
a chance to grow and create the financial base to support all of
our environmentally responsible actions.
