I am a native-born San Franciscan and have actually made a study of
these types of efforts to address climate change. It is clear to me
that they are primarily political maneuvers that are done to
falsely claim credit for saving the environment. In fact, they do
very little to address climate change but instead allow capitalist
interests to buy their way out of social responsibility at the
expense of people of color and the future of our planet. This is a
cap and trade policy that does almost nothing to reduce carbon
emissions and has incentivized the destruction of rain forests and
attacks on indigenous people, the very ones who are doing the most
to protect our planet. I strongly urge you to REJECT these
policies.
