In Los Altos, an ordinance banning gas leaf blowers was in place
for about 25 years and renewed by the City Council in 2011. 
However, gas leaf blowers and gas powered mowers are used
throughout our City. The gardeners know that the ordinance is not
enforced. Our local police officers will address the ban only in
response to a phone call from a resident and they must see the
equipment in use in order to give a citation. Citations are rarely
given. Local police officers do not have the resources or the will
to address this issue. Meanwhile, my neighborhood online Nextdoor
network is full of citizen complaints about the noise and emissions
from gas leaf blowers. The health hazards have been known for many
years. The solution to the problem must come from the top in
something like a ban on the sale of gas leaf blowers in the state.
