Subject | Transition to Zero Emissions |
Comment | Dear California Air Resources Board Members: I live in the Los Angeles Harbor Area and choose to ride a bicycle for some of my transportation needs. There are many single family homes and apartment buildings in this area. Often when I ride in this area, I am exposed to toxic exhaust coming from landscaping equipment. It smells worse than most cars on the road. Bicyclists, who are reducing emissions, should not be the ones contracting illnesses from breathing lawn equipment emissions. I have noticed these tools being used at schools near young children. I have also seen them used on government property such as Los Angeles City Hall. The Los Angeles Harbor Area already has diesel trucks, the Port of Los Angeles and the refineries. Please end the use of gas powered lawn equipment immediately. Zero emission technologies exist; manual technologies have also been used for decades, such as rakes and brooms. I am on the Wilmington Neighborhood Council and we passed a resolution urging governments to switch to zero emission vehicles. Lawn equipment is not a vehicle, but the motivation in the resolution is relevant. Governments should be leaders now and not use gas powered equipment. Please review. |
